Big Bang will continue their reign over K-pop, under the management of YG Entertainment. On November 2, YG Entertainment issued an announcement that was published through the Korean publication, OSEN.
“The members of Big Bang: G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, Daesung, and Seungri, have extended their exclusive contracts,” said the a spokesperson for the agency.
Yang Hyun Suk also weighed in with his feelings about the announcement, stating that the members were not considering a move from the agency where they debuted.
“Let’s stay together 20 years,” said Yang, in a statement published by Daily Sports.
The extension of their exclusive contract follows reports from industry insiders that the five members of the popular idol group would all remain at YG.
This marks the second contract renewal for the members of Big Bang, recognizing their decade of success as one of the top idol acts in Korean pop.
Daily Sports compared the activities of both Big Bang and other acts at the agency, against the tumultuous situation that surrounds groups like EXO, f(x), and Girls’ Generation, who are housed under SM Entertainment.
“The music industry has chosen to accept the decision as a smart choice, that shows loyalty and is utilitarian,” said Daily Sports.
G-Dragon was noted, along with Taeyang, as artists who worked with the company prior to the establishment of the group.
Big Bang recently completed a successful North American tour, in support of their release “MADE.” The record-breaking tour assembled more than 1.4 million fans throughout Asia and North Americ
The powerhouse act also confirmed their attendance at the 2015 MelOn Music Awards, which will be held at the Seoul’s Olympic Gymnastics Stadium, before kicking off the Japanese leg of their tour on November 12.
