While the singer is still reportedly on a self-imposed exile, observant fans managed spot 2NE1’s Park Bom active on Instagram recently.
On May 20, 2NE1 member Sandara Park uploaded a photo featuring her and WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon for Elle Korea. With 2.5 million followers, Dara’s photo garnered 154,000 likes, and one of them happened to be Park Bom.
“Park Bom is online and she liked [Dara’s] photo with Seung Yoon,” tweeted WeLoveBom along with a screencap.
This would be the first time any activity has been spotted from Park Bom’s Instagram since last June, when the drug scandal created great controversy for the singer. The last time the 31-year-old 2NE1 member actively promoted with the group was in December, during the group’s fan meetings in Japan.
“Park Bom is still reflecting, so we ask for your understanding,” said a YG Entertainment rep according to allkpop last year.
“2NE1 cannot put on a show without Park Bom. However, besides that, Park Bom is not participating in any other domestic schedules. She is currently taking time to self-reflect. Please support them until they make their comeback. They will make a good album and come back as 2NE1.”
Since then, news outlets and fans have theorized on her whereabouts, with people theorizing she could be staying in New York City, Milan and Japan.
Meanwhile, the other 2NE1 members are active with solo activities, including Lee “CL” Chaerin’s upcoming solo English album, set to drop later this year.
“CL’s almost done with the album,” said YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk according to YG United.
“Whether she will [succeed] or not is something that can only be known after she [debuts]. From my standpoint, we are proactively supporting CL’s solo activities. I am planning the release of 2NE1’s new album for after CL finishes her solo activities. 2NE1 will surely show you good work until the expiration of their contracts.”
